Very useful, and make sure you review the following:

[1] See how we use PERFECT AND SIMPLE tenses together: Int - EGC - present perfect and simple past for news and details

Mucho cuidado con el abuso del tiempo perfecto.

To: eoi-english-2013-ni2c@googlegroups.com

Hi classmates!
This time, the teacher asked me to summarize the class.  We have been working the whole class -about +on the photocopy "letters of complaint".
First, we -have [1] started +by telling our experiences +[about / when] shopping on the  internet.
Second, we -[have been reading] +READ the letter of complaint and we -have filled the gaps.
In this text, we can find some expresions that we can use to complain about anything. For example:
  • Dear Sir/ Madam (we must always put the heading)
  • I´m writing to complain about ... - Escribo para quejarme de...
  • It was not exactly as advertised  -  No era exactamente como lo anunciaban
  • To make matters worse  -  Para empeorarlo  (To make matters worse, when I called your helpline, it took me half an hour)
  • To take de matter further -  Llevar el asunto más lejos  (I would still have to write if I wanted to take the matter further)
  • As compensation for... - Como compensación por ... (As compensation for the lateness of delivery)
  • I feel that ... - Siento, opino... (I feel that I should be sent the missing memory card free of charge)
  • Yours faithfully -  Atentamente
José Luis -has said that this text is a good text and it has a good structure. (If I were you, I´d prepare a text similar to this, because it could appear in the exam).
After the letter, we did some exercises with the expresion "According to" (-The exercises A and B).
In summary, we -have worked +on the front +side of the photocopy.
   NEW VOCABULARY
  • Shipping -  Transporte  (Shipping charges are not refunded on returned items).
  • Unauthorized charges - Cargos no autorizados (He had three unauthorized charges on his credit card)
  • To deceive -  Engañar           Deceived - Engañado
  • To mislead - Engañar          Misleading - Engañoso
  • To get through -  Que te pasen con... (Can I get through to Josh - ¿Me puedes pasar con Josh?)
  • A coupon = A voucher -  Cupón, vale.   (Save money with online coupons.  Voucher with 10 months validity)
  • Newbie - Novato  (The staff in this company are newbies)
  • Handy man  = Odd job man -  Chapuzas, manitas (persona que las hace)  ( My husband´s a real handyman)
  • Sloppy = Sloppy job  - Chapuza (trabajo hecho de aquella manera)  (That seems rather sloppy, don´t you think?)
I hope this is useful for you.
Enjoy the weekend!
See you on Monday.
