Class Summary for November 7th

Hi!

We started the class by doing a photocopied worksheet (you can see it, +attached in -that +the email):
In this photocopied worksheet we wrote our answer to the different points in the circles at random (not in the logical order).
Then with a classmate, we made questions to -know +[guess/ find out] which circle was the answer -of +to each point. For example:
-          Is Ana the name of someone you know who got a better job recently?
-          Was on Friday the last time you got really angry.

With this exercise we learned some new vocabulary:
-          At random: when you do something not in the logical order. (Al azar)
-          Drowsiness: When we don't want to wake up in the morning and we stay more time in bed. "Drowsiness is the reason why people often get to work late".

Then, we learned new grammatical structures with "used to":

-          [get +used to + ing]: I got used to driving on the left when I -live +lived in England: Me acostumbré a conducer por la izquierda cuando viví en Inglaterra.
-          [ be + used to+ ing]: I'm used to drinking coffee every day: Estoy acostumbrado a beber café todos los días.

From the book we -do +did the exercise 1a and b (Writing), on page 14. On exercise 1b we turned to page 133, and read five steps to improve our writing. We also had a discussion about the most common problems that we have when we write in English.

Then we -do +did the exercise 2, on page 15 and read the draft on the right hand, called "A film Legend", where we found the mistakes.

The teacher told us to use an English app on our phones, called: "Ankidroid". This app helps us to review the vocabulary.

Some of the vocabulary that we learned during the class:

-          Swearwords: Those are bad words that we use when we are angry, for example: idiot, stupid… "The driver only said swearwords to the other drivers at the traffic jam" (Palabrotas).
-          The fullness of time: When you have all the time that you want to do something. "I have the fullness of time to do this writing, so I will do it with calm". (Todo el tiempo del mundo).
-          I black out: When you don't know what to say. "I -black +blacked out during my speaking test". (Quedarse en blanco).
-          To gather: When you put -near +together something that was separate. (Recopilar, juntar).
-          To scatter: When the objects are in different sites of the class, the room... (Dispersar/dispersos).
"Could you gather the books please? They are scattered in the class"
-          To star: The most important participation on the film. "She stars in the most successful film, called: Mamma mia".
